Paradox Voice Band LOVES New Aca-soprano Robyn Lundin!
Born and raised in San Diego and recently transplanted to San Francisco, soprano Robyn Lundin recently bested other singers to round out the top end of the Paradox Voice Band sound, and she’s already racking up solos like nobody’s business. Be on the lookout for Robyn to cover the chart-topping Taylor Swift/Zayn duet, I DON’T WANNA LIVE FOREVER with tenor-bandmate David Fowler – a match made in musical heaven. Robyn also scored the “Diva Dance” solo in Paradox’s upcoming mash-up called STARBOY DIVA, an ambitious combination of The Weeknd’s recent #1 hit, STARBOY, with Nat King Cole’s NATURE BOY (1948), Katy Perry’s E.T. EXTERRESTRIAL (2011), and DIVA DANCE, from the 1997 sci-fi film, “The Fifth Element.” By day, Robyn owns and operates Nöje.biz, an e-commerce, craft coffee-and-chocolate company, and in her free time, she’s practicing the art of aerial-silk acrobatics. Here’s more of what we learned about this fascinating and multitalented artiste in a recent conversation:
PVB (Paradox Voice Band): What can you tell us about your family?
R (Robyn): There’s Mom and one sister who is 32, and then the other side of the family is Dad, my stepmom, a twelve-year-old sister and a nine-year-old brother. Fun fact - when we go out people can never figure out if my stepmom is my sister or parent.
PVB: And your last name just changed, so you were recently…
R: Married, yes! I am grossly in love with my husband. Our love is so sickeningly sweet it may make you barf, but in a good way.
PVB: Any kids or plans for some?
R: Kids – no, never, thank you very much!
PVB: How did you come up with “Nöje” as the name for your company?
R: That’s the Swedish word for pleasure. My husband is Swedish. In addition to craft coffee and chocolate, we sell tea and honey, and we’re working our way into other categories.
PVB: You have a beautiful voice and modern, pop style. Which musicians have influenced you over the years?
R: My favorite group at present is an alternative-rock band called MuteMath. I discovered them because they were opening for a different band, and they wound up being way better than the band I went to the concert for! I'm also a sucker for Al Green. His music always puts me in a good mood.
PVB: What’s fun for you?
R: I spend more time playing video games with my husband than I would like to admit. And this is no secret - but I love Star Trek, and sci-fi in general.
PVB: What’s not fun? Do you have any pet peeves?
R: Poor grammar. I once had an on-line dating profile that said, “I only want to talk to people who know the difference between “your” and “you’re.”
PVB: Do you have a favorite t.v. show?
R: I am loving “Stranger Things” – season 1 was awesome; I have high hopes for season 2.
PVB: What’s been the happiest day of your life so far?
R: The day I met my husband. I know it's cheesy and cliché, but we really are made for each other, and I can't imagine my life without him.
